Geller family of Balta.
1. I remember someone in the family mentioned that we were related to a Geller family who settled in Philadelphia, PA. 2. I have found a connection (albeit roundabout) between my Balta Tenenbaum relatives and a Geller family of Balta. See below. This connection is documented in the Blitzstein Steamship Co. of Philadelphia records. An index to these records is on JewishGen. The records themselves are available through the Mormons. a. On December 14, 1905, my great uncle, Rueben Sender of Philadelphia, purchased a ticket for Ruchel Tenenbaum. It was sent in care of Hersch Frenkel of Balta (the street looks like "Sinianenskaia"). (ticket book 5) b. On March(ss) 25, 1913, Louis Geller (care of H. Tenenbaum, 1416 S. 5th St.) purchased tickets for the following: Soibel Geller, Itzik Geller, Rivka Geller, Freidel Geller, Scholem Frenkel, and Chane Frenkel. The tickets were all sent to Gersh Frenkel of Balta (same street as above). My grandmother had a cousin named Hershel Tenenbaum. (ticket book 11).
