Notities over Eugene Rosenbaum

Sidonias Vita in her book Modern Women Poets of Spanish America (NewYork, 1945) states that she came to the USA in 1916. Passenger records confirm this; she sailed with her mother from Puerto Barrios, Guatemala to New Orleans on the Coppename, arriving April 17, 1916. Her sisters Hertha and Juana sailed on the same ship and route, arriving October 02. In 1920, Jenny [Fanny], Juanita, and Sidonia resided together in the 13th Assembly District. In 1921, Eugene sailed from Puerto Barrios, Guatemala to New Orleans on the Heredia, arriving on April 27. In 1925 Eugene, then a clerk at the United Cigar Store a 2108 Amsterdam Ave., was killed in a robbery; Rosenbaum, who lived with his wife and four children at 511 West 184th Street, was affectionately called papa by young folks in the vicinity because of his kindly disposition.
