Sara Chaimovich b. 1857 "Wife" arrived in NY from Odessa on 29 jun 1889 on "Sorento". Also Lieb aged 6 (b.1883), Abrah age 7 (b.1882), and Borisch aged 3 (b.1886). All from Odessa to Castle Garden.
Rachel Chaimovich Gershkovich was my great-grandmother and the mother of Clara (Chia aka Haie aka Chaya) Gershkovich Geller. Rachael came to the USA through Ellis Island on April 16, 1906 with my grandfather, Ephraim Geller and five of their children...she was pregnant with my father Jack. Rachel was a sister to Sarah Chaimovich Swett. Sarah and her husband, Leon, lived on a farm in Buxton, Oregon and that is where my grandparents and their children went to stay for several months when they came to Oregon before moving to Portland. They came with Am Olam group to Oregon, but left the group when they arrived in Portland. I was told my grandmother became an orphan when she was around 10 or 11 years old.
