I am a direct decedent of Lousi Sol Salomon Alexander (every one calledhim Sol) who is the son of David Alexander. When David came to Watsonville he built a red brick two story building and opened a Tailor shop, the building still stands to this day, Louis and Henry ran a Tailor shop in Watsonville which was started by their father David. The two brothers Louis and Henry were given the Tailoring business under the condition by their father that they would support Jewel financially through Law school. My line of Alexanders have remained in Watsonville (I was born in Watsonville as well) until my father Lance moved to Salinas California, USA which is about 20 min drive from Wattsonville to farm. In 1938 the family store was moved to 353 Main Street and in 1952 L.S. gave over the ownership to his son Fred Alexander and son-in-law Leon Rosenberg. When L.S. Alexander died in 1966 at the age of 93, Watsonville lost one of its most beloved citizens. His interest in Watsonville transcended his devotion to the business and included the welfare of the community at large. On December 1, 1968, Fred and Leon sold Alexanders Mens Wear, the second oldest retail establishment in Watsonville. It had been operating for almost 100 years.
