Solomon Ephraim was Gussie's maternal uncle. He was quite the traveler. Family legend has it that he knew Buffalo Bill and Wild Bill Hickock, and he went to the wedding of the then Queen of Hawaii. He also apparently owned a large piece of land in the Colorado Springs, Colorado, area. Toward the end of his life, he was a pest exterminator in New York City. One of his customers was Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
