parents born Russia. When Wanda is 15 and 25, no other kids in thehousehold.
Julia Levinson Goldstein's father, who I think was named Mayer Levinson, came from Germany. I am not exactly sure where Wanda, his wife was originally from. They lived in San Francisco in the early 1870s, which is when Wanda died from pneumonia. Julia had two younger brothers. One was named Eugene. I don't know what the other brother's name was. After Wanda died, Julia was sent to boarding school in Germany. She came back and married David Goldstein. Their daughter Wanda, who was born in San Francisco, had a problem with her knee that required them to go to NY to get treated. This was before the earthquake, so maybe late 1890s. My grandmother (Julia and David's granddaughter) told us that they were very wealthy and owned pecan fields outside of San Francisco. The letter that I have mentions a place called Red Bluff(ss), CA. When they took Wanda to NY for treatment for her knee something happened with the family finances, and I think they lost a lot of the money. Wanda and Julia (and maybe David) stayed in NY. My grandmother said that she thought Mayer may have remarried after his wife died, and may have gone back to Germany, although I have no information and have not been able to track down any information about the Levinsons. My grandmother (Denise Diamond Mishkin) was born in 1915 in NY to Wanda Goldstein and Nathan Diamond. Julia lived with her family when she was young and died when she was 10 or 11. I had never heard anything more about David, but I gather from your records that he went back to San Francisco and died there. As for sons on the Goldstein line, Julia only had one child, Wanda, and Wanda only had one child, my grandmother Denise. Denise married Abe Mishkin and they had two sons, Michael and Kenneth. Kenneth is my dad. Wendy Mayer
