Hij is getrouwd met Anna Gray.
Zij zijn getrouwd op 2 april 1829 te St. Endellion, Cornwall, England.
Kind(eren):
Joan Guy married Richardson Gray in 1787, and their daughter Anna married my great great grandfather John Clemoes on 2nd April 1829 at St. Endellion. As I mentioned she died at the early age of 44 in 1844. John her husband died in1862, and they are buried together at St. Endellion.
The Guy's owned the 2 farms I mentioned in 1840, but by 1851 according to the censuses I have they were owned by my great great grandfather John Clemoes. One stayed in the family until one son emigrated to NZ in 1877 ie:William Digory Gray and the other where my grandfather and his siblings were born was sold in 1887., when my grandfather was 4 years old.
I am from the Cornwall, England, UK side of the family, and started the family reseach back in the late 1970's, and discovered that my great grandfather as well as having 4 older sisters, also had a younger brother, William Digory Gray, but nobody new anything about him who was still alive then. After further research I discovered he, with his wife and 3 children emigrated to NZ in 1877. They had a further 3 daughters born in NZ.
My grandparents, and then my parents lived in St. Minver for many years, and before that my great great grandfather John farmed in St. Minver and St. Endellion. The 2 sons, John Guy Gray- my great grandfather, and William Digory Gray, who emigrated to NZ in 1877, inherited 2 of the farms when he died in 1862, and the 4 daughters inherited other properties that he owned. William Digory Gray was the youngest of the living 6 children but the first to marry. All the others married after he died, having been a widower himself for many years.
The Guy family you refer too were an important family in the area during the 1800's, and I have book about them, as they were major land owners and ship owners, so created quite a bit of employment in the area. In the latter part of the 1800's they hit hard times due to the railways arriving in the area, which then started to ship goods rather than using ships. They had to sell of alot of what they still owned to maintain their status, with some of the family emigrating to hopefully find a better life. The book lists all the family marriages in the 1700 and 1800's.
