Her funeral notice says, New York and Detroit papers please copy, while his notice says New York and Los Angeles papers please copy. Presumably these references refer to friends and relatives from Kepno, Wlkp., Poland in those cities.
According to Mervin Morris family information, following their marriage, Samuel and Amelia settled (in 1856) in Columbia, Tuolumne County, where Samuel opened a store selling provisions to miners and where their first child, Benjamin, was born.
San Francisco marriage returns, 1850-58, were indexed irregularly among early land records, but their marriage was not. It may, nonetheless, have occurred in San Francisco. Judging from children's birthplaces in the 1860 census, the only two Goldstein households still in San Francisco (Most-probably Morris and Peter) appear to have arrived about 1857 from New York, where they had been since at least 1849. Possibly Amelia was the Amelie Goldstein, aged 20yrs 3mos, who arrived in New York on the Washington 8 July 1852. This would place her birth about March 1832, about what the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census enumerations say, but not her cemetery monument inscription, seem to suggest.
1844 Barunow, Abr Goldstein, GalanterieWaren.
