David II Nunes Carvalho, Sol Salomon's son, became famous in his ownright as a Handwriting expert. He testified in many trials as an expert witness & contributed greatly to the acquittal of Dreyfous in the famous trial in Paris
At the second trial of Alfred dreyfus Dreyfous for treason against France, David Carvalho12 proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the handwriting on the notes that betrayed France to Germany was not dreyfus Dreyfous handwriting. The handwriting belonged to Major Esterhazy13. dreyfus Dreyfous was innocent. The French military court convicted dreyfus Dreyfous a second time none the less.
David died intestatestrange for such a pernickety man- and his estate of $23,500 odd was divided up by his 5 children including Adele. This funded Ernest Georges purchase of a 999 year lease of 66 Harley St,London.
David and his wife Annie(Nee Abrams) Carvalho and their children lived in the early 1900's at Breezy Point, Far Rockaway (near present day JFK airport) and were very much part of the New York (Sephardic) Jewish society set.The New York Eagle & other neWroclaw, Silesia, Polandapers carry many stories about the Carvalho daughters' social calendar
