Inventor of the first electricity meter:
Herman Aron was born in Kepno on 01.10.1845 to a family of Jewish traders. His father wanted to make over his business to him one day but fathers affluent relatives saw the boys outstanding abilities and paid for his further education. Consequently, young Aron being sixteen went to Berlin, Brandenburg, Germany where he finished high school and then graduated from Heidelberg University. He was an outstanding physicist and electrotechnician. Aron took over the chair after his great predecessor Max Planck. In 1884 Herman Aron constructed, on the basis of pendulum patterns, one of the first electricity meters which were put into use. In the same year his invention was protected by patent. Moreover, Aron was a pioneer in cordless telegraph and founder of a famous German concern H. Aron Elektrizitutszuhler-Factory, GmbH. In 1897 the company had its branches in almost every place of the world. The company was present in Poland as well in Swidnica where there still exists Fabryka Aparatury Pomiarowej PAFAL S.A. (APATOR Group).
