Benjamin Scherek b. 1858 Posen: The forty years old Posen born merchant Bernhard Scherek, staying at the Jerusalem Church Nr. 2 in a fine flat in the first floor, is wanted (wanted poster). The flight of Scherek is connected with the fall down of the trading shop or business of clothes by Zossenheim & Thiele which was a scandal at times. Scherek ran a business//shop in the NiederwallStr39 for stocking and trimmings. It turned out after that he was the money man, the real owner of Zossenheim & Thiele, the holders were only his manager.
(a hidden owner). When Scherek saw that the new business did not work and that the collapse was inevitable,
he persuaded Zossenheim & Thiele, the remaining stocks of goods to sell for low and flee to where ever they can so much they could take from the credit. No one knew at the time that Scherek had his hand in these dizzying stories. Only when Zossenheim returned and volunteered did it come to light. In August of last year, the matter before the criminal judge. Zossenheim received four years for fraudulent bankruptcy, and Scherek for instigating two years in prison; Thiele is still not determined.
Scherek, however, lodged a revision and thus got away with it. The Reichsgericht (Empire Court) referred the matter back to the district court for a new trial. The accused, who had already been in custody for five months, was released for the time being and also lived in his old apartment for a while. He seems to be not to have preferred the success of the new trial to be seen. The whole family is away. The button and Trimmings-shop had been dissolved before. Scherek has one Widow married, which gave him a large fortune, though for her children should be assured of marriage. One tells that he himself informed the prosecutor that he had to travel to London. But since he does not come back, so has the Prosecutor's office at the district court 1 now seen forced, with Help a profile of his getting hold of again. It seems very doubtful if that will succeed now.
