From Edna Cole:
Per George Turk Josiah's middle name was Jenkins thus he was called "J.J". George found his middle name in information given by his son William H. to a funeral home. George said that his Aunt Martha told him that J.J. lost an arm in a train accident. A family picture confirmed the loss.
Per the 1860 census Josiah, age 22, was living with James Griggs and his family who was the Clerk in The Superior Court of Habersham County. Josiah was attending school. The 1870 Census shows J.J. Anderson was a merchant living in in the Deep Creek District with his wife Susan A. and 3 children. Before the 1880 census J.J. moved his family to the Columbia District of Banks County where he continued as a merchant . His wife is listed as Susan on 4 of 5 censuses. Only on the 1900 census is she listed as Susannah. Also, the 1900 census shows that she has had 11 children with 9 living. By 1910 census another child, Mary Susan, is deceased.
