I'm not sure that this information is right up your ally, but I thought I'd let you know that I have finally finished writing a book on the history of McHugh Bros pottery that operated almost next door to the Campbell's pottery in Wellington Road Launceston. I've been a keen collector of the pottery for a lot of years now and much of my collection can be seen on the internet if you type either' McHugh pottery' or the 'Erin May Collection' into Google.
Henry Trevena was a big part of McHugh's pottery, working there for over 50 years, he spent his first couple of years working for John Campbell's where his father worked until he died in 1898.
During my research I do remember contacting one of Henry's daughters who lived in Cooee in the north of Tasmania. She helpfully gave me her sons address in Hobart and he came to visit me here in Victoria a few years back to have a look at the collection.
Members of the Springer family were also a big help, with two of them putting in over 100 years of time with the pottery. The family of Leo McAuley who spent over 50 years with the pottery were also very helpful.
All in all the book has been a mammoth task for me, but enjoyable. It is A4 in size, hardback, and 200 pages with plenty of photos of both the vases they produced, the workers, advertising they used and photos of the pottery itself. I had the book printed locally in Launceston in April at Foot and Playsted and it is being sold for $85.00. I had 400 copies printed, half of which have sold very quickly and I was wondering if you could pass the word around that it is available.
If you are Launceston based you will be able to find a copy locally, otherwise I can of course provide copies as well, it just means that there would be a postage cost as well.

Good to hear you'll pass the news around Ann, I managed to find a few photos of Henry, I have him in worker line ups in 1905, 1923 and 1956, plus a nice black and white of him and his wife and children in the 20's/30's and a coloured one from a few years later, Henry is often attributed with a flowing script that was put on the base of the pottery often saying 'McHugh Tasmania' sometimes with a date or shape number for the vase. Henry also played footy as a young man and was captain of the Wellington football club. I've used a photo of the premiership team from 1904 , but they are not named, i'm sure he is in the photo though. He was also heavily into Pigeon racing and was the president of the club for years.
His father Thomas worked at Campbell's and when he died the pottery workers made a pottery marker to mark his grave.
