Gesta Consulum Andegavorum states that he was a son born to Foulques late in life, and was successor of his brother Gui as bishop of Puy. However, there was no bishop of Puy at this time. Foulques had a stepson of this name, Drogo, son of Foulques's second wife by her earlier marriage with Alain Barbetorte, some confusion seems possible here.
