ation informationo 1707, K.M. Brown et al eds (St Andrews, 2007-2016), date accessed: 19 November 2016 Robert I: Translation   1314, 6 November, Cambuskenneth, Parliament   Parliamentary Record   6 November 1314 [1314/1]1 Legislation: ordinance, judgement and statute of disinheritance on those who had died or lived outside the faith and peace of the king In the year of grace 1314, on 6 November, the most excellent prince the Lord Robert by the grace of God illustrious king of Scots, holding his parliament in the monastery of Cambuskenneth, it was finally agreed, adjudged and decreed by the counsel and assent of the bishops and other prelates, earls, barons and other nobles of the kingdom of Scotland, and also all the community of the aforesaid kingdom, that all who died outside the faith and peace of the said lord king in the war or otherwise, or who had not come to his peace and faith on the said day, although they had been often summoned and lawfully expected, should be disinherited perpetually of lands and tenements and all other title within the kingdom of Scotland. And they should be considered as the king and kingdom’s enemies henceforth, perpetually deprived of any further claim of right whatsoever hereafter for themselves or their heirs. Therefore, for the perpetual memory and evident proof of this judgement and statute, the seals of the bishops and other prelates, and also the earls, barons and the rest of the nobles of the said kingdom, were appended to the present ordinance, judgement and statute. [The seals and tags recorded in Sir James Balfour of Kinnaird’s seventeenth-century transcript are given below. Those named seal tags which still survive on the manuscript are given in square brackets.]2 The King In the first place the seal of the lord King Robert I himself. See comment in Latin text, especially regarding obvious errors in Balfour's list. Possibly William de Alyncrome, abbot of Kelso by 2 March 1317 (HRHS, 123). Possibly John, a charter witness in 1326 (RRS, v, no. 293-4). Possibly Roger, abbot of Paisley in 1318 (HRHS, 168). Sic. Lincluden was a convent of Benedictine nuns. Balfour’s recording of a seal must be in error. Possibly Michael, abbot of Deer in 1316 (HRHS, 55). Possibly William, prior of Restenneth in 1317 (HRHS, 183). Martin was the prior of May or Pittenweem in 1314, but the priory was never a Carthusian house, and the seal may have been misidentified.erit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Parliment record of 6th Nov. 1314 inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">http://www.rps.ac.uk/trans/A1552/2/14s: 6px; background-color: #f6f3f0; box-shadow: none; border: none; color: #262626; font-family: ui-sans, 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14.5px;">
