BIOGRAPHY: Ann Hughlings was first married to Solomon Pitchforth in England. She was a Jewess born, reared and married to great wealth and distinction. Her husband Solomon Pitchforth was friendly to the missionaries of whom John Taylor was one. When they desired that his son Samuel serve as a missionary, Solomon withdrew his friendship. Ann eventually took her children to the home of her father and subsequently came to Nauvoo. She was an outstanding musician and had a remarkable testimony. Solomon Pitchforth moved to Australia and remarried and had 15 children. Ann was sealed to John Taylor 30 Jan 1846 in Nauvoo and died on 26 Oct of the same year in a dugout at Winter Quarters. Her dying words were a testimony of the gospel to her children. It is said by some of her descendants that she has since been sealed to Solomon Pitchforth, but she did not request such action herself and it has not yet been verified by us. There is no record of the cancellation of the Taylor sealing.
