"65TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Of Mr. and Mrs. George Albers Celebrated Saturday, March 12, 1910.
Mr. and Mrs. George Albers invited all their children, relatives and neighbors to celebrate their sixty fifth wedding anniversary with them at their home, southwest of town. There were about eighty-five in attendance. A most enjoyabletime was had. Numerous presents were given these venerable old people as mementos of the occasion, Rev. G. Haken conducted the home ervices. Grandpa Albers is eightyeven years old and grandma Albers is eighty-three, yet they feel just asgood as they ever did, and were greatly surprised to see so many present. Mr. Albers was born April 26, 1823, at Muehlenwarf, Ostfriesland, Germany, and Mrs. Albers, nee Gertie Schmidt, was born April 5, 18S7, at Loga, Ostfriesand,Germany. They were united in marriage March 12,1845, and lived in Weener, Ostfriesland, Germany, till 1873, when they came to this country, locating at Baltimore, Maryland, where they lived for five weeks, moving from here to Ackley, Hardin county, Iowa, November 10, 1878. Several years later they moved to Butler county, near Aplington and Parkersburg. April 5, 1883, they came to Kossuth county, locating on the same farm, southwest of town, where they live today,enjoying the blessings of their old age. Eight children were born to them, three of whom died in Germany. The other five are enjoying good health and live n this country, residing as follows: Mrs. Win. Smith, southwest of Buffalo Center;Albert Albeis, of Alden, Iowa; Theo. Albers and Mrs. H. D. Thorn, of Buffalo Center; Mrs. Henry Sohuver, of Canby, Minnesota. Besides these five children there are thirty-three grandhildren and twenty six great grandhildren, making inall a family of sixty-six members, all of whom were present at the celebration bat a few grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Albers have celebrated an occasion that but few couples are privileged to enjoy, sixty-fifth wedding anniversaries beingvery rare. These hospitable, pioneer people have the sincere and best wishes of all for many more years of happy wedded life together."
