Services were held Monday, June 6 at Turner Co. First Presbyterian Church in Davis for Alfred Kuper who died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center due to complications of a stroke. He attained the age of 85 years, six months and three days.
Alfred Kuper was born on a farm near Lennox on Nov. 29, 1919, the son of Cornelius D. and Dena (Jibben) Kuper. He grew up there and attended Middleton District #23 rural school.
On Dec. 14, 1944 he was united in marriage to Alice Rops at Stacyville, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived on farms in the Davis, Lennox and Worthing areas and moved to their present farm near Davis in 1954. His death ended a marriage of over 60 years.
Alfred was an active and faithful member of Turner County First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, a Trustee and as Sunday School Treasurer. He served on the Middleton Township Board for many years, the Lennox Co-op Board and the Middleton School Board. Alfred enjoyed bowling and he worked at the Lennox Lanes. He also did carpentry work and enjoyed woodworking.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson, Kelly Kuper, on Sept. 9, 1992 and one granddaughter, Brienne Dykstra, on Feb. 21, 1993.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Alice; five children, son, Ronald Kuper of Davis; son, Dennis Kuper, his wife, Toni, and children, Dana and Tara, of Denver, Colorado; son, Wayne Kuper, his wife, Mary, and children, Stacy Benning, her husband, Jamie, their children, Cooper and Cole, Kris Kuper, his wife, Jolene, their children, Taylor and Layne, all of Lennox; daughter, Julie Dykstra, her husband, Gordon, of Parker; their children, Damon Dykstra and his wife, Amber of Parker and Jordan Dykstra of Sioux Falls and daughter, Kathy Troetschel, her husband, Henry, and their son, Jack Troetschel, of Golden, Colorado; his sister, Ardell Muller of Lennox; plus several other relatives and many friends."
