Brief Life History

Through research we are certain that Rhoda was 'Rhoda Elizabeth' or that during her lifetime, proved with records, that she called herself by both names.

Her husband Job is buried in the Beechwood Cemetery in Jefferson, Schoharie, New York. If Rhoda is buried there, she has no tombstone. This cemetery has been defunct for some time.

In the 1850 Gilboa, Schoharie County, New York census, they have her listed as 'Rhoda Whitney,' and she stated she was born in Rhode Island. However, there are conflicting records on her birth place, as most of her children stated on their census records that their mother was born in New York.

Job and Rhoda Elizabeth possibly had more children than are listed in this tree, but they are not verified yet.

There is a possibility that Rhoda's maiden name was Stearn or Stearns, as there is a marriage record for a Rhoda Stearns and a Job Whiting in Pittsfield, Berkshire, Massachusetts on January 5, 1787. This would also fit when they started having their children.
