Jean Fleming was the second daughter of John Fleming, 5th Lord Fleming[1], and his wife Elizabeth Ross, only child of Robert Ross (killed at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh, Master of Ross, eldest son of Ninian Ross, third Lord Ross (of Halkhead).[2] Her date of birth is not provided in source material but she is noted as the third daughter. Her parents married in May 1562 and her father died in 1572. She was likely born c. 1566.
She married, contract dated 1583, to William Bruce of Airth.[2][3]
After her husband died in 1596 she went to live with her youngest son, Patrick Bruce of Newtowne. She died at his house at Newtown of Bothkennar in October 1630.[3]

2. William Bruce, of Stenhouse, Bart.. He seems to have married twice: firstly to unknown Middleton, daughter of Gen. Middleton of Letham; secondly to Rachel Johnston, daughter of Joseph Johnston of Hilton. He is also noticed, in some sources, as marrying Isabella Baillie, dau of John Baillie of Letham, but this appears improbable.
3. Alexander Bruced.s.p, died young and without heir.
4. Robert Bruce, d.s.p., died young and without heir.
5. Alexander, d.s.p., died young and without heir.
6. Patrick Bruce, of Newtoune, His mother will live with him after his father's death.
