"War Nurse Buried in Melvin Cemetery
Mrs. Jessie (Hindreth) Klever, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hildreth of Westfield, Mass. was born on December 15th, 1886 and passed away at the St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn. on January 2nd, 1936, being 49 years and 14 days old. She attended school and grew to womanhood in Westfield, Mass.
During the World War she served as a nurse in the A. E. F. in France, and later in Germany. It was during her war service that she met her husband, the late Burtus Kelver.
On July 12th, 1919, she married Bertus Klever at Sibley, Iowa. For a few months the couple made their home in Sanborn, Iowa later moving to Berlin, N. D. where two years later on April 4th, 1923 her husband Bertus Klever passed away. Mrs, Klever stayed at Berlin until the fall of that year when she with their two children, Eleanor and Henrietta, moved to New Haven, Conn. In 1928 the family went to Hartford, Conn. where Mrs. Klever died.
She was a member of the Jane Delano Post of the American Legion, Hartford, Conn.
She leaves to morn her death two daughters, Eleanor and Henrietta and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Von Hermborg of Hartford, Conn., besides many friends and neighbors.
For the past year, Mrs. Kelver suffered much, spending most of that time in a Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, January 8 at the Methodist church at Melvin, with Rev. E. Stanworth in charge. Burial was in the Melvin cemetery.
Mr. Klever was the first ex-service man buried at Melvin and Mrs. Klever is the first ex-service woman to be buried there."
