Obituary of Mrs. Schutter, Wesley

Mrs. Gesina Schutter was born Gesina Janssen on February 17, 1862 in Resem, Germany, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Looft in Wesley Friday morning at 3:15 at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 2 days. She was united in marriage to Henry Schutter on March 25, 1883, to which union were born three children. The family came to America and to Bancroft, Iowa. on September 9, 1891, living there for eleven years. In 1902 the family moved to Lakota where they were in the furniture business until 1919 when Mr. and Mrs. Shutter [sic] retired to Wesley. Mr Shutter [sic] passed away on July 20, 1926, and for the past five years the mother made her home with her daughter here. She was taken ill July 20, 1933, since which time she has beeen gradually failing until two weeks ago when her condition became critical. When a youg girl she became affiliated with the German Reformed church however she was a faithful attendant of the local Methodist church since she established her residence in Wesley. Although she was unable to hear the sermons, her desire to commune with God was partially chosen in this manner. She leavess to mourn her departure, two sons Henry of Buffalo Center, Jerry and [sic] West Bend, and one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Looft of Wesley; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two brothers, Ralph Janssen of Titonka, and Aggo Janssen of Lakota also survive. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two ..."
