Martin was in the Army between WWI and WWII he brought home postcards from many of the places he was, including the Philippine Islands. The records of his service were in a government building that burned, we do have his personal records. Martin was in the hospital when he died. Mary had been with him but he seemed much better so her brother in law Alfred Egyabroad stayed with Martin so Mary could rest, she had been sick before Martin got ill. All of a sudden Martin sat up in bed and said, "It's so beautiful, it's so beautiful, it's so beautiful,it's so beautiful,it's so beautiful and laid down and died." Thank you Uncle Alfred for writing this down. Martin's funeral was $100 and Mary did not have that much money so her brothers and brother in laws each gave her $20 to pay for the funeral, she was able to pay that back when the Government sent her a check. Lyle was 11, Norma 10, Violet 8 and Ruby 6 when their father died. ... Change Date: 17 Nov 2012 ...
