"Nola Remmers
Nola Dee (Haase) Remmers was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1966 to Clarence and Lorraine (Keller) Haase in Yankton, South Dakota. In 1985, she graduated from Scotland High School and went on to further her education by studying business at Nettleton College in Sioux Falls. On September 18, 2004, Nola was united in marriage to Toby Remmers at the United Church of Christ in Scotland.
Nola was a well-known, significant person to the people and community of Kaylor. She was a strong advocate of the Kaylor community and served in many of the local organizations. She was an active contributor in the planning and execution of special Kaylor events, such as the Wednesday Night Drawing, Turkey Drawing, Santa Setup and Appreciation Night.
In 1991, Nola and her brother Kelly Haase bought the Haase Bar in Kaylor from their parents. In memory of her brother, she founded an annual memorial golf tournament that raised funds to establish a scholarship in his name. Nola was a caring, giving person. She especially loved the Christmas season when she gave out numerous gifts to friends and family. She sought out ways to help and serve the Kaylor community and its people.
Through the last year, Nola struggled with various forms of cancer and treatments, but her spirit and optimism were never defeated. She went on to form a dart league at the bar in support of curing cancer, dubbing the group the Haase Pink Ladies Dart League. She hosted and attended several dart tournaments with her league. Nola was a perky, driven woman and Toby's beloved angel.
Nola fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls having attained the age of 50 years, 2 months, and 26 days.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 12 years, Toby Remmers of Kaylor; mother Lorraine Haase of Kaylor; brothers Kevin (Nancy) Haase of Albany, Georgia and Craig (Tammy) Haase of Sioux Falls; nieces and nephews: Amy (Chad) Olsen of Sioux Falls, Megan (Jeff) Eilers of Yankton, Tyler Haase of Georgia, Abby (Brandon) Smith of Omaha, NE, Alexa Haase of America, Georgia, and Cody Haase of Sioux Falls; and 5 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded into Heaven by her infant son Joseph Jack "J.J." Herrboldt, her father Clarence, and brother Kelly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the United Church of Christ, Scotland from 1:00 p.m. until a 4:00 p.m. prayer service there. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 27 at the church. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, rural Scotland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Haase' Pink Ladies, PO Box 162, Kaylor, SD 57354. Funeral services are in the care of the Goglin Funeral Home of Scotland.
