Sylvester B. Parks, 84, of 125 East Park av., West Lafayette, died Friday at 10:30 a.m. at his residence after a three-month illness.
He was born Jan. 16, 1881, in Virginia Township, Coshocton county. He was a life-time resident of the area. He was the son of Nancy Wright Parks and was married April 20, 1904, to Cora Carter who survives. Also surviving are two sons,Frank W. Parks, Plainfield; Leonard S. Parks, Coshocton; six daughters, Mrs. Fred (Nellie) Pargman, Coshocton; Mrs. Eugene (Ruth) Markley, Coshocton Route 3; Mrs. Dale (Dorothy) Shaw, Coshocton; Mrs. Clarence (Betty) Haines, Coshocton;Mrs. Russell (Winfired) Eckleberry, Coshocton Route 4; Mrs. Robert (Jean) Bush, Coshocton Route 4. Ninteen grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive. One daughter, four brothers and four sisters aredeceased.
Mr. Parks retired in 1946 from the Pennsylvania Railroad, where he had been employed for 29 years. He belonged to the Forresters of America and was a 50-year member of the Martins Ferry Forresters Lodge.
Services will take place Monday at 2 p.m. at the Bonnell-OÙuNeill Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 5 6 7 8

Anniversary to Be Observed
Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Parks, West Lafayette will observe their 55 wedding anniversary at their home Sunday.
Coral Carter and Sylvester Parks were married in Coshocton April 20, 1904. They have lived their entire married life in or near West Lafayette. Their ages are 78 and 73 years respectively.
Mr. Parks was retired from the Pennsylvania railroad after many yearsÙu service.
Mr. and Mrs. Parks have eight children living, Ms. Fred Pargman, Mrs. Eugene Markley, Mrs. Dale Shaw, Mrs. Don Udder, Mrs. Russell Eckelberry, Mrs. Robert Bush, Frank and Leonard Parks, 18 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Onedaughter is deceased.
Among the congratulatory cards which they received was one which they prize highly from President and Mrs. Eisenhower.
A family dinner is planned at noon today.

Couple to Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Parks, 125 East Park av., West Lafayette, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary April 20.
They were married in Coshocton April 20, 1904, with Rev. Hunt officiating, and have spent their entire life in this vicinity. Mr. Parks is 82 and Mrs. Parks is 78 years old.
The couple has eight children, Mrs. Fred (Nellie) Pargman of 379 South Tenth st., Frank of Route 4, Leonard of 813 Kenilworth av., Mrs. Eugene (Ruth) Markley of Canal Lewisville, Mrs. Dale (Dorothy) Shaw of 604 South Twelfth st., Mrs.Clarence (Betty) Haines of 391 South Tenth st., Mrs. Russel (Winifred) Eckelberry of Route 4, and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Bush of Route 4. There are 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. One daughter isdeceased.
In observance of the occasion, a family dinner will be held Sunday, April 19, and open house will be held at the American Legion hall in West Lafayette from 2 to 4 p.m.
