"The Charles A. Winter Family
Charles A. "C.A." Winter was born on February 24, 1862, in Illinois, to Michael and Catherina (Pingel) Winter. He came to Kossuth County as a child with his parents and grew up on a farm between lakota and Bancroft. He attended countryschools.
On May 5, 1892, he married Emma Ogren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Ogren, born on July 24, 1867 in Sweden. They lived in Germania several years where Charles practiced the work of well drilling. He drilled many wells all arount thecommunity; quite a few were flowing wells, some of which are still being used.
In1910 they bought a quarter section of land southwest of Germania in Ramsey Township. It was known as railroad land. They farmed there with the aid of twin sons, Raymond and Russell. In the forties they moved into Lakota. Charlesdied in 1946 amd E,,a om 1949. Their family consisted of a daughter, Leona (Mrs. Jerry Heetland), the twin sons, Russell E. and Raymond A., and 14 grandchildren." <>
