Is the female born between 1789 & 1800 Catherine Hill?
Is Catherine Hill the widow of William Hill of Tuscarawas Co., OH? Some change would need to be made in her age.

This death certificate raises a whole new question about the 2nd wife of Christopher Alwood, Jr.
It is possible the death certificate erred in naming Jas. Alwood the father of Catharine Alwood, widow. If this Catharine Alwood is the widow of Christopher Alwood, Jr. as I speculate, then it is possible that Jas. Alwood named on thedeath certificate is really Jas. Hill.
But what if Catherine Hill is her married name by a marriage previous to her marriage to Christopher Alwood? What if her maiden name truly is Alwood? then the question is, Who is Jas. Alwood? Wm. Alwood did not have a son named James. There was a Ric'd Alwood living in Baltimore Co., MD who was identified as a pauper along with our ancestor Wm. Alwood. Might this Jas. be the son of Ric'd? Then Catharine Alwood married twice, once to a Mr. Hill, then to ChristopherAlwood.
More likely the father of the widow Catharine Alwood is Jas. Hill.

'... Catherine Stewart married William Hill 9 Feb 1834. William Hill died in 1836 or 1837. Catherine Stewart Hill then married Christopher Allwood 27 Sep 1837. Guardianship records after the death of William Hill lists the followingchildren as minors: John Hill, Matilda Hill, and Samuel Stewart. Catherine and William Hill had no children. William HIll was married probably two other times. According to the chancery record I posted, he married Susan Whitman at somepoint and then William had some older children that suggests that he was married at least one other time.
As for Catherine Stewart's maiden name...considering Samuel Stewart listed above as a minor child, I would suppose that Stewart is not Catherine's maiden name. However, I cannot find record of which Stewart she was married to. Perhapsher maiden name is Allen. Maybe as you point out that they misrecorded her parents names on the death certificate as James Allwood instead of Allen? ... So do you know where the Allwood's came from? Did they travel with the Whitmans? Perhaps the Hills traveled with them as well. I don't know much about the Hills except that I believe William was first in Cadiz in Harrison County Ohiobefore moving to Warwick Twp in Tuscarawas County. According to the birth locations of his children, it appears that he arrived in Ohio around 1812-1814. Two of his daughters, Susan and Sarah, married into my Wilson line.
I don't have a good idea of Catherine Stewart Hill Allwood's birth year. I've just gone off of census records and have approximated it as 1795.
Here is what I have transcribed for William Hill's will:
Will of William Hill.
Tuscarawas County, OH 1836 - Book 1-4, Page 87:

'Thought you might find this interesting. I looked at the 1800 census in Somerset PA, and there is a James Allen living there with three daughters under the age of 10. So perhaps Catherine Stewart Hill Allwood is an Allen. Just athought.'

'The Agnes Stuart name is interesting isn't it? I wonder if the husband of Catherine Stewart Hill Alwood and Agnes Stuart were siblings.'

'I also looked back at the 1850 census. There are two Catherine Alwoods. One is born 1795 PA and living Christopher Alwood born 1789 MD. They are in Auburn Twp, Tuscarawas County. I think this is Catherine Hill.
There is there is a Catherine Alwood born 1804 PA living with John Whitman born 1795 PA. Living with her are Sarah, Ann, and Simon. This must be Catherine Whitman.'
So maybe you're right. They would have to have divorced as both Catherines are living. What do you think?'
