Funeral services for Walbert Bruns, 79, of Britt and formerly of Titonka were held Monday, February 26, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church of Britt with Rev. Paul W. Adix officiating. He passed away Saturday, February 24 at theHancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
Pallbearers were Dean Beenken, Clarence Harringa, Roger Harringa, Bruno Korte, Walbert Mayland Sr. and Vernon Stohr. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
Walbert Bruns was born March 3, 1899 in Bunde, Ostfriesland, Germany to Bruno and Engelena Troff Bruns. At the age of four years he came with his parents to the United States, settling near Buffalo Center.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Britt. He received his education in the rural schools near Titonka.
He was married to Etta Stohr January 18, 1928 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Titonka and they farmed near Woden for five years then moved to a farm northeast of Titonka. He had lived on a farm near Britt for 20 years, retiring and movinginto Britt 19 years ago.
Walbert is survived by his wife, Etta of Britt; three daughters, Rosella Bruns of Britt, Mrs. Donald (Lillian) Dittmer of Walnut Creek, Calif. and Mrs. Hans (Adeline) Larsen of Parkersburg; one son, Raymond Bruns and his wife, Marilyn, ofBritt; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. John (Jennie) Korte and Mrs. Tressie Beenken of Buffalo Center; Mrs. Lena Harringa and Mrs. Henry (Gertie) Stohr both of Woden; two brothers, Bruno Bruns of Britt and John Bruns of Lake Mills,nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Etta) Mayland and Johanna." <>
