Her parents, George Holyoak and Sarah Green, were prosperous farmers and truck Gardiners, quiet, industrious, religious and methodical in their habits and trained their children so thoroughly in those principles that they governed their own lives and none ofthem ever deviated therefrom.ized at eight years of age. At New Orleans, they took a boat up the Mississippi River to St. Louis. Sickness and the death of her sister, Mary, wife of John Knowles, delayed them for a while. The mother-in-law, who thereafter lived with them, was a greathelp and inspiration to the motherless young wife. She never ceased to be grateful for her loving helpfulness and tender solicitations. The following year, November 3, 1856, the young couple were sealed for all eternity in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City.ediately followed her to the grave. Her grandchildren numbered 95.
