The seventh of eight children born to Thomas Sr and Mary (Underwood) Cook, Mary's father was born into the Quaker faith in Northwich, Cheshire England. Mary married: 1) Uriah Carson abt 1765 in RowanCo NC; he died in 1780; they had six children, four sons and two daughters. 2) Caleb Sumner Sr 9 Oct 1782 at Toms Creek MH Surry Co (now Guilford) NC; they had four children, one son and three daught ers. On 25 Mar 1809, Caleb, Mary and their children, were received in OH from NC: (Old) Fairfield MM, Leesburg, Highland Co OH - "1809, 3, 25. Caleb & son, Caleb, received on certificate from Westfie ld MM, N.C., dtd 1808, 1, 12." Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy Vol 5, Pg 215, OH: "1809, 3, 25. Mary & daughters, Mary & Tabitha, received on certificate from Westfield MM, N.C., dtd 1808, 11, 12." Six days later Mary died, aged 60 yrs, of unknown causes. Daughter Amy, aged about 16 or 17 yrs at the time, was not named as being received into the church and no further records of herhav e been found to date. A few years after Mary's death, her husband Caleb was granted a certificate to Fairfield MM in Hendricks Co IN. Mary is my 4th paternal Gr-Grandma.
