“Hannah Osborn m. Charles Copeland and removed to Vermillion Co., IL),“ Looks like Hannah Osborne, daughter of Enoch Osborne and Jane Hash, married 1) Charles Copeland 2) Nathan Blevins 3) JamesBlevins. There is a record for her marriage to Copeland and it shows her birth year as 1773, not 1757. -------------------- https://www.geni.com/discussions/228153?msg=1461058 from https://www.geni. com/people/Leslie-Blevins-Jr/6000000011749389019 After Nathan Blevins participation in the War for Independence he fathered 2 children with Hannah Osborne/Copeland whose husband Charles Copeland lef t her by 1785, but he returned and they had *Jane in 1789 and *Elizabeth by 1791. Hannah was b. ca 1757-1764. She was a daughter of Enoch Osborne and Jane Hash. Nathan and Hannah Copeland withth eir 2 children appeared on the Personal Property Tax list in 1789. in Russell Co, VA. > I have it that the above Hannah Blevins was born ca 1763 rather than 1773 as her first born with Nathan was born ca 1786.after her husband Charles Copeland left her about 1785 and she may have had a child with her legal spouse Charles Copeland earlier than 1785. . Fifth Gen. Children of Nathan W. Blevi ns #2 and Hannah Osborne/Copeland according to information posted on genealogy websites and information submitted by others and by information handed down in the author’s family are: *1. William #8 b. ca 1786 Lee Co., VA m. (1) Sarah Troxel (2) Ava Collins *2. Mary “Polly” b. ca 1788 Russell Co., VA m. (1) ____ Piercy (2) Aaron Honeycutt *3. Charles b. ca 1785-91 Russell Co., VA m.Sarah Roark May 3, 1816 d. 1884 Unless a descendant of the above Charles is tested for DNA I doubt we will ever know if he was a son of Charles Copeland and Hannah or a son of William Blevins #8 and Hannah . Nathan #2 met (2) Rachel Skaggs by ca. 1785 and this is partly the source of Nathan and Hannah’s on again and off again separation by around 1792. The relationship of Nathan #2 and Hannah O. it seems became troubled between 1785 and 1791 upon the return of Hannah’s husband Charles Copeland and they separated sometime after Charles was born in 1790 as “Hannah O.” married JamesBlevins # 3 in 1793 and she had probably taken their daughter Frances with her. James #3 was born ca. 1755 and would have been about 38 and he also may have been married and had children before he and Hannah ma rried or cohabitated with but no information has been found proving this. ---- Nathan #2 married (3) Lydia Vaughn-Peppers ca 1802. Lydia was born ca 1780 a dau. of Thomas Vaughn. William #8 was the first issue of Nathan #2 and Hannah O., who some think was likely a sister of Humberson Lyon, (see pgs 55 & 56), a family legend in the author’s family is that William, with his motherand siblings , were left by Nathan Blevins who was sometimes known by his middle name as William Blevins. The two families of Nathan #2 were apparently not on speaking terms. Family estrangement is not uncommon wh en a man leaves a woman with small children for another woman. Nathan remained somewhat of an enigma and genealogical roadblock for many Blevins researchers of both Nathans, 1&2, and their families. I t appears that tension, estrangement and perhaps dislike between the two families of Nathan William Blevins was long lasting, and Nathan’s first born (William #8) eventually left Virginia and moved to Kentucky to be near his mother Hannah. This move was after she and Revolutionary War soldier, James Blevins #3, were said to have married. The above family tradition was reported to family research er Frances Blevins-Nichols, a descendant of William #8. The Blevins elders she met with in the 1940s and 50s also reported that James Blevins #3 was known throughout most of his early life as James Bl evin. (see pages 21, 26 & 65) Note: By 1818 - when Nathan #2 and wife Lydia named a second son William - Nathan and Hannah had been separated for several years and Hannah and her children with Charle s Copeland were so distant from Nathan and his Children that Nathan may have named another son William to further distance himself from Hannah and her family. The author believes this is the truth abo ut Nathan #2 (aka William Blevins) and Hannah Osborne Copeland and other often confusing Blevins families. See page 300 for more about this. The above is from page 116 of my revised and updated manus cript. ---- https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/123074386/hannah-copeland Hannah, Daughter of Capt Enoch Osborne and Jane Hash, B ca 1769/1773 Married Charles Copeland b Scotland or Canada d Illin ois May have died in Tenn on way to Illinois.
