=== GEDCOM Note === [BBrock.FTW] Bluford Vanderpool was the son of Wynant and Nancy Linville Vanderpool. He served in the Civil War according to his descendant, Barbara Hammons Davis. Vanderpool descendant and researcher, Pricia B. Vanderpool Paulkovich related the following. John W. Vanderpool, minor, applied for a pension on Bluford Vanderpool #641299 (rej.). In the file an affidavit by Kizi ah Stanturf affirms that Bluford Vanderpool died in Davies County, Missouri in 1867/ An affidavit by Wm. Thornhill, states "...remember very distinctly the year of his death 1867. I visited some rel atives in Kentucky in 1866 and it was the following spring he died. The leaves of the hickory trees were putting out at the time he died." Notes from descendant, Bargara Hammons Davis: Subj: Re: PML Search Result matching Vanderpool Date: 2/2/00 11:53:53 PM Central Standard Time From: Grams31 To: BBrock1945 "Hi, We've talked before. My line is Old John and Ellander>Wynant a nd Nancy Linville>Bluford and Elizabeth Stanturf>Delilah and James Henry Hammons>James Lee Hammons and Ruth Schooler,(who were my grandparents.) I am interested in filling ingaps on Bluford's sibling and their families. When I was about 16 or 17, my grandfather told me Hap was wrong. He said that his mother, Delilah Vdp Hammons was a distant...and he stressed distant, cousi n to Jesse. He didn't know where Uncle Hap got his notion. The only thing he could figure was that Jesse visited with Delilah's parents at one time and slept in one of their beds. Uncle musthave s lept in same bed as a child. Bluford died in Daviess Co. in 1867 of Consumption. He was abt. 32 and had served in Civil War. Elizabeth and 2 children had a ROUGH time after his death. My grandfath er told me she even poled a raft across the river to earn money. Elizabeth was dead by time he was born, so guess his mother, Delilah told him this. That's all I know about Jesse. The bed story is not to far fetched, but it is just a family story, not proven. Barbara"
