Change Date: 11 JUN 1994 Note: There is a wealth of information on Casselberry families. A quarterly pub lication called"The Gamp Tree" is devoted exclusively to descendants of Heinrich Kesselberg. Another source is "Casselberry & Allied Families" by Dr. Jesse Wendell Casselberry. A reprint of The Perki omen Region, Genealogical Landmarks and Milestones of the Lower Perkiomen Country, by Ralph Johnson and David Bergey, Adams Apple Press 1992, also has a section on the family covering pages 86-89. Mr. Bean of St. James Episcopal Church in Evansburg gave additional information, as well as numerous notes from within our family. From Dr. Jesse Castleberry, Baakendorf is the correct spelling of the sm all suburban village, where Heinrich's family lived. It is in Broich County. "Baaken" means a sign or beacon. "dorf" means village or town. A main road came through from AAchen, at that point on the R uhr river, where travellers crossed at a ford in those days. A signpost is said to have had signs pointing to different destinations. In the original record, Heinerich is spelled with two e's . Heinri ch arrived in this country as a single man from the region of Baakendorf, Co. Broich, Germany, prior to 1691, when he first made an attempt at naturalization. He first settl ed in Germantown, soon aft er it was established by the "[IT:Concord:IT]" passengers, and was included in early Germantown records. His name appears as a witness to the marriage of Henry Ffrey and Anna Catherine Levering perfor med by Daniel Pastorius of Germantown. He was officially naturalized in 1709, and bought 89 acres that same year in Farmerstown. He later moved to Providence Twp. He and his wife were Mennonites. In 1 725, he signed a petition for a road as Henry Casselberry. He and his wife had eight children, Derrick, John, [BO:Paul:BO], William, Eve, Elizabeth, Mary, and Catherine. His burial location is unknown . Many Mennonites felt marking their graves was unnecessary, as God would know where to find them, which was all that mattered.
