Margaret McLeod née McDonald died a few years later in South Yarra, Melbourne on 26 Feb 1896, age 47, of carcinoma of the liver. Donald, Margaret and their children Donald Alexander and Rhoda Jessie are buried in the McLeod-Escott family grave in St Kilda cemetery.
