In the name of God, Amen; this Eighth day of April one Thousand Eight hundred and one, I Thomas Evans, of the County of Caswell and State of North Carolina Schoolmaster Being of a low State of health but of perfect mind and Memory Thanks be to God for the same and Calling to mind the Mortality of my body and Knowing that it is Appointed for all men to die do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I Give and Recommand my Soul unto the hands of God that gave it and for my body I Recommand it to the Earth to be buried at the Discretion of my Exec’s nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same by the mighty power of God and as Touching Such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to blefs me with in this life I Give devise and difpose of the Same in the manner and form following that is to say- In the first place I do|lend to my well beloved wife Mary Evans the third part of the plantation I now live on Including the Dwelling house and Useing Spring with Timber and fire Wood to comfort the same and also my Negro Woman Rachel and her son, Arche and my Negro Girl Dinah also my Mare and Colt also the half of the Stock of every description likewise the half of the plantation Working Tools also one half of my household and Kitchen furniture of every Description then at her Intermarriage death to deferred to my youngest son William Evans.|I also give and bequeath to my Daughter Francis Ashburn wife to D. Anderson Ashburn my Negro Girl Sook Eighty dollars to be at the discretion of my Executors I also give and Bequeath to my well beloved son Jesse Evans my Negro boy Ned also my Arith-matical and Mathamatical books and my Scale of Dividing I also lend to my well beloved Daughter Pherilee Evans wife of David Evans, my Negro Girl Leah also my plantation she now lives on Containing 200 acres during her natural life and at her Death to descend with her Offsprings to my youngest son William Evans.|July Court 1801 Page 76|I also Give and Bequeath to my well beloved Son Lewis Evans my Negro Girl Eunice. Likewise my Negro boy John - I also Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Pheeby Malone wife to Staples Malone my Negro Girl Phillis-I also Give and Bequeath to my son William Evans my Land and plantation I now live on not Contradicting what is before but also my Negro Woman Fan and all my household and Kitchen furniture and plantation Tools and Stock of every Description not before but - also all of my Tobacco now on hand and the Insuing Crop of Tobacco The paying out of his part all my Lawful Debts I now stand in I also Constitute and appoint my well beloved friend John Darrick and Gabriel Lea Esq whoom I much Confide in to be my Exec’s of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby Utterly disallow Revoke and disannul all and every other form Oregon, USA Testament Will Legacy and Bequeath and Executors by me in any way before Named Willed and Bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above written Legend Listed and published pronounced and Declared by the said Thomas Evans as his last Will and Testament in the presence of the Subscribers.|Test.
