White and Son. A large number of friends and relatives assembled to pay their sad respects, and the hearse and casket were laden with many beautiful floral tributes. Her four sons acted as pallbearers. of the Hastings River district, and was born at Forbes River 65 years ago. She spent the early part of her life on the Hastings, and was married to Mr. Edwin Tolhurst, in August of 1896. Together they resided in Port Macquarie for very many years. Approximately 15 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Tolhurst came to Bellingen to live, and here the members of the family enjoyed the goodwill and esteem of many friends. Mrs. Tolhurst possessed sterling personal qualities and was a devoted wife and mother, unselfish in the extreme. Her life throughout had been one of activity, and the welfare of the family was ever her first consideration. About two years ago she suffered the sad and sudden loss of her husband and some months ago herself became seriously ill. With a characteristic fortitude she endeavoured to carry on valiantly, but her health began to wane rapidly, and for several months past she had been under constant hospital care. The end came peacefully on Sunday morning. The late Mrs. Tolhurst is survived by a family of four sons and one daughter, to whom the deepest sympathy of friends is extended. The sons are Edwin (Taree), Eric (Dorrigo), Percy (Port Macquarie), and William (Casino), and the daughter is Miss Eletha Tolhurst, of Bellingen. — Bellingen "Courier."
