Sir John Stewart of Blackhall & Ardgowan, knight [1, 2, 3, 4]istressingoun, Blackhall and Ardgowan, in Renfrewshire, Scotland. John was knighted by his father, who died in 1405.ast one son, perhaps several.aronets Shaw-Stewart baronets]ochow, Argyllshire, Scotland. Married Duncan Campbell of Lochowll 1395 and Ardgowan 1403, all in Renfrewshire. Sir John died c.1412.of Blackhall in 1395 and Ardgowan c. 1403 ...€œbrother-in-law” of Sir Colin Campbell of Lochow. However, tradition states that Sir John was the son of Sir Colin’s sister. It is possible that tradition turned Sir John’s wife into his own mother, perhaps because of a confusion between the father Robert III, whose original name was John, and the son, Sir John.
