Ontario - fb England - mb Ontario - English origin - Meth.STON - April 22 --- The remains of Mrs. Mary Ann Leeder, a pioneer woman of Ontario, who died late on Sunday night at her home on James street, here, after a short illness, were conveyed yesterday to their last resting place in Port Elgin Cemetery. Rev. James Semple, of Palmerston United Church, conducted the service at the grave, many Palmerston people accompanying the cortege to Port Elgin. The service at the house was conducted Tuesday night by Rev. G. T. Watts of Strathroy, in compliance with a request made by Mr. and Mrs. Leeder before the former's death some eight years ago.eceased, whose maiden name was Mary Ann Greer, was a staunch Methodist and a life member of the Palmerston branch of the Women's Missionary Society. Born in Chinguacousy Township she married Robert Leeder in 1867 and from this time accompanied her husband from place to place as duty called him, for many years. Living at Goldstone, where Mr. Leeder was station agent on the old G.T.R., some 20 years ago moving to Palmerston, when her husband was made baggage master here. uthampton, and Miss Ella, at home. station here in the early days of Port elgin, who died at her home in Palmerston on Sunday morning last after a short illness from broncho-pneumonia, were brought here on the noon train on Tuesday and interred in the Port Elgin cemetery alongside the remains of her late husband who predeceased her ten years ago. The late Mrs. Leeder was born in Chinguacousy Twp., Co. of Peel, and when a young girl came to Bruce County with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Greer who were among (illegible portion) second concession, now owned by Mr. George Osborne. of twelve, and following her marriage to Mr. Robert Leeder lived for a number of years in Port Elgin, they leaving here some 43 years ago. Deceased leaves a family of two daughters, Mrs. A. McDonald of Southampton, Ella at home, and two sons, Wilton P. of Toronto and Thomas of Olds, Alta., all of whom with the exception of the last named attended the funeral here on Tuesday together with her brother, Mr. George Greer, of Paisley.
