January 11.istrict, died yesterday evening from the effects of strychnine poison. day and reached home about half-past 3 in the aiternoon.ed aud viewed the body.Her husband was not in comfortable circumstances, and he worried a good deal as to finances, although generally he was of a cheerful disposition, he was despondent at times, and in consequence took to drink occasionally- The de ceased left for Riverton about 10 o'clock yesterday, and before going he said that, money was no use to him, and could not straighten his position. He came home about 3.30 p.m., and appeared to be slightly under the influence ot drink. He had his dinner, and then went into the front room and gave his daughter- and the witness a sovereign each. Deceased then walked out to the shed, and on his return he threw himself down on the bed and said, 'It will be all up with me in a few minutes if this stuff is any good.' He then went into convulsions. As soon as the witness saw he was ill she sent for Dr. Glynn, who arrived 20 minutes later. She considered that his act was due to drink, the heat and financial troubles. Nobody pressed him as regards his accounts.quor. They reached home about 3.30 p.m. The Witness then lay down for a rest, and about an hour afterwards his father came to him in the back yard and gave him the bottle produced and said, 'Here, 'Johnny, is the scuff I have taken, and if it is any good you will soon know.' His father then went inside, and the witness followed him and told his mother. He then fetched the doctor- He knew no reason for the act. Deceased lived happily with his family. His father kept the poison for poisoning cats.eased in the parlor of the hotel. He seemed in his usual spirits,' and was quite lively. He had a drink, but appeared to be quite sober. The deceased only occasionally visited the hotel, and he regarded him as a fairly steady man. He had never heard him say he was tired of life. the deceased.
