LifeSketch: History of Hyrum Henry, His Death drastic change altered our lives on September 15, 1974, when I fell while scrubbing the garage floor with sudsy water. NinaBeth called paramedics and I was taken to the Utah Valley Hospital. y right thigh bone was crushed, (broken in many places), requiring a metal plate to be installed, and a long metal screw bored into the hip bone to permanently strengthen it. Dr. Jacobs set the fracture and I was hospitalized for three weeks, a painful and emotional experience. Hyrum tried so hard to help, too. My emotions were still giving me problems. I tried hard not to be waited upon. After many weeks, I was able to take over home duties to some extent and tend to Hyrum’s needs, of course with much help and encouragement from the Cunningham family next door.Hyrum and I spent a very comfortable December watching television before a glowing fireplace, and enjoying all the winter storms. Lew and NinaBeth took us to Church meetings, with me in a wheelchair.ays later was also a great joy; for we had many phone calls, cards, letters, flowers and gifts from our loved ones and friends. It was a very special day for two homebound people.gradually worsened until he was unable to get out of bed. NinaBeth was his constant nurse, with occasional help from Aloyes Ivie again and from Dorothy Nielsen, a neighbor. Jim Henry came down from Twin Falls and spent a couple of days with Hyrum. ite helpless. He had a hospital bed brought in to make it easier to care for his needs. He was so appreciative of every little thing that was done for him, so loving and kind.ly ill on Thursday, January 23, 1975. Bishop Joel Nielsen came to see Hyrum and to assist Lew in giving him a special blessing. His prayer was so beautiful, comforting, and really special, just simply bidding Hyrum adieu. Hyrum responded in a very peaceful repose.rent’s on the phone in Pleasanton, Calif., when NinaBeth called out from the bedroom to “tell everyone that Grandpa has just passed away.” John received that message immediately. She called Jim in Kimberly, Idaho immediately. It was really unexpected, yet not surprising. The calmness that settled into his room was indescribable. We all so much appreciated that dear man. What a blessing that he wasn’t required to suffer -- he simply “went to sleep.”all me “Doll” and be very firm about that. Yes, it was his time to “go home.”in Provo to make final arrangements. The White Mortuary brought a beautiful silvery grey casket to Provo. We arranged for a viewing to be held in the Edgemont Second Ward Relief Society Room on Sunday, afternoon, January 26, 1975, after which we drove to Twin Falls for the services in the Kimberly Ward Building.d Relief Society Room previous to the services at 2 pm on Jan. 28th. The Chapel and recreation hall were filled with loved ones and friends young and old – so many people with whom Hyrum had done business with many years ago in the Henry Produce Company. It was impressive to me, and I felt humbly grateful to our countless friends and loved ones.b King, and were as follows:take PatriarchDedicatory Prayer at Graveside: John PerkinsHonorary Pall Bearers:ded a hot, delicious dinner for the family and friends in the recreation hall.
