    LifeSketch: The family owned slaves as shown in a deed of Margaret Thornton Strother. The slaves were given to her son Francis Strother with reversion to her grandson William Strother. III ~ married 1694, King George Co., VA, Virginia, a deed, dated 1727, from Margaret Strother, widow, for land deeded by her grandfather, Anthony Savage, gentleman, to her father, Francis Thornton, and Alice his wife;garet (Thornton) Strother had 5 children and they were:tzhugh)ine Washington, father of Pres. George Washington." Their farms adjoined and after the death of William Strother, two hundred eighty acres of this homestead with the with it's two-story (8 bedroom) house was sold to Augustine Washington and became a part of "Ferry Farm" and Pres. George Washington spent some time here when he was young. By 1929 the house was still in good condition.
