Montville - Mona Chase Kennedy, 74, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006.
As the matriarch of the family, she was the beloved wife of John Francis Kennedy for 51 years.
She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on March 6, 1931, the daughter of Albert and Helen McCaughey Chase.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Kennedy; a sister, Patricia Kelley, of Framingham, Mass.; sons, Patrick Kennedy, of Montville, and John Fitzgerald Kennedy, of Waterford; and daughters, Maurene Kennedy, of Waterford, and Sharon O'Brien, of Lisbon; along with three nephews and seven grandchildren.
Mona was an avid bowler and pool player for many years and was a team member in leagues for both.
She travelled extensively to Europe, especially Ireland, visiting her ancestral lands. She loved to drive her car, attend auctions, collect antiques and read.
Mona was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society in the Reach to Recovery Program. In her early working years, she worked as a waitress in her grandmother's hotel, "The Lincoln House" on Hampton Beach, N.H. She later held a secretarial position with the Civil Service working in Washington D.C. and Massachusetts. Once her children were born, Mona became a homemaker, raising her four children. Mona was the Founder, & President/Director, Vice President/Director, Head of Operations, and Owner of the Kennedy Marine, Inc. family business.
