Jimeno or Ximeno of Pamplona , called the Strong ( ca. 745 -¿ 805 ?) Was a character that appears in the chronicles in the late eighth century (c. 781 ) as a mogul or military chief of Navarra .
Biography
In the later Arabic chronicles it is identified as Mothmin el-Akra or Maximino Garcea the Arce or Arga, protector of the area of Deyo with fortress in Monjardín next to the territory dominated by Malduthun al-Atlal or Baldowin de Atalarico, and both confronting Abderramán I in his aceifa of the year 779 after the expedition of Charlemagne .
Frankish spurious chronicles report the campaign of the Frankish king in the highlands of the Ebro on the way to Zaragoza -in particular the siege and capture of the Pamplona fortress to cover his rearguard- and the capture of hostages during the occupation, among which was of a possible brother of Jimeno: the Hispano-Roman leader Furio or Fortunio.
Some sources report that he had two children (other sources cite them as grandchildren or great-grandchildren): Íñigo Jiménez and García Jiménez . Another theory proposes that the real name of García Jiménez was García Íñiguez -which should not be confused with King García I Íñiguez , son of the king Íñigo Arista - whose father was called Íñigo Jiménez, also confused with García Jiménez's brother . Some sources cite him as the initiator of the Jimena dynasty , although he lived in a time before the origins of the dynasty of King Íñigo Arista . Other authors consider it the possible common ancestor of both dynasties.

Some members of the dynasty
King Jimeno of Pamplona ( c.720 )
Known as Jimeno «the Strong», he was a Spanish-Roman noble whose residence in medieval documentation is located between Lumbier, Leyre, Aibar and Sangüesa. The oldest text that refers to this monarch is from the year 781.
He was father (or probably grandfather, by a difference of almost one hundred years) of García Jiménez and Íñigo Jiménez who would be monarchs, in different parts, although until now it has not been possible to specify the places.
Eneco Jimeno ( 785 ? - 848 )
Probably son of «el Fuerte», and father of García Jiménez. Contemporary of Íñigo Arista , signature in medieval documentation as king, and son of Jimeno. 1
García Jiménez ( 835 - 886 )
Son (probably grandson, by a difference in almost 100 years) of King Jimeno, he married Onneca Rebelle de Sangüesa, from which Íñigo and Sancha Garcés were born. He was co-ruler of Pamplona due to the absence of the heir between 870 and 880. From a second marriage with Dadildis de Pallars (sister of Count Ramón I of Ribagorza and Pallars ) were born King Sancho Garcés I of Pamplona ) and Jimeno Garcés of Pamplona .
Íñigo Jiménez (m. 842 )
Son (probably grandson, by a difference in almost 100 years) of King Jimeno, was coeval with his brother García Jiménez. The news of this monarch is scarce and most of the falsified documentation. He is confused with a previous Íñigo Jiménez, who was the father, together with Oneca, of Íñigo Íñiguez (824-852), founder of the íñiga dynasty .
Íñigo Garcés
He was the son of the co-operative García Jiménez and of Onneca de Sangüesa.
He married Jimena and they fathered García Íñiguez, Jimeno Íñiguez, Fortún Íñiguez, Sancho Íñiguez and Toda, who married García Íñiguez de Olza.
García Íñiguez ( 839 - 861 )
Do not confuse him with García Íñiguez , king of Pamplona between the years 851 and 880. Son of Íñigo Garcés and Jimena. He was the brother of Jimeno Íñiguez, Fortún Íñiguez and Sancho Íñiguez, who fled to Córdoba .
He is ruler of the Valdonsella and dies in the battle of Liédena in the year 861.
Sancho Garcés I of Pamplona ( 865 - 925 )
King of Pamplona between 905 and 925. Son of García Jiménez and Dadildis de Pallars. On the death of García I Íñiguez in the year 870, he is ruler of the Valdonsella and soon retakes a military policy of leadership in all the surrounding territories, being the first to try to conquer the Ribera del Ebro. With the support of the Asturian King Alfonso III of Asturias (with mutual relatives in Álava-Castilla), along with the count of Pallars would occupy Pamplona, forcing Fortún Garcés to abdicate from the throne.
In some way overlooking the patrimonial rights of the children of Fortún Garcés, who would still remain in the Court, these will fall on his granddaughter Toda de Larraún , who was married to Sancho Garcés I, and would reinforce her in the family and to be accepted as king of Pamplona in 905, succeeding the Jimena dynasty to the Iñiga in taking the reins of Navarre for the rest of more than three centuries.
