Clarence F. "Snuffy" Makley, 85, of 428 S. Main St., St. Marys, died Tuesday, January 21, 1997, at 5:14p.m. at the Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, where he had been a patient for 3 weeks. He had been in failing health the past 8 months.
He was born September 25, 1911, in St. Marys, the son of William F. and Katherine A. (Wilmes) Makley.
Mr. Makley is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Wilma "Weedie" and Robert Derr of Newport Beach, California, and Rosemary Horn of St. Marys; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl L. "Shorty" Makley and Andrew C. and Irene Makley, all of St. Marys; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was proceded in death by two brothers, George and William Jr.
Mr. Makley was a welder and partner in William Makley and Son's Inc., St. Marys, until his retirement in 1989. He was a private pilot and member of the Aircraft Owners Pilots Association.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1592 and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 767, both of St. Marys. He was a bowler in league play in St. Marys for many years. He was a 1929 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said Saturday at 11am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, with Rev. David A. Heinl officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys Chapel, St. Marys, where a Christian Prayer Service will be held at 8:30pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Rosary School Tuition Assistance Fund.
