Place of birth (Lorke near Oels) from his Staatsbuergerbrief. On the arrival of son Hirsch in Neumarkt in 1819, Hirsch is described as Sohn des Staatsbuergers Jonas Lax zu Lorke Oelsn.Kreises.
Jonas in Hebrew means "dove". Greek word οιωνός. As a variation of Jonah, it can mean a 'gift from God'. Gift from God = Theodore in Greek.
The book by B. Brilling says Die Familie Lax stammt aus Simmelwitz. This suggests he was born there, but that depends upon when the family moved from Simmelwitz. The birth of both sons in Lorke in 1799 and 1800 suggests that Simmelwitz was just a stopping
a guess based on fact he moved to Namslau in 1803 and this was the local cemetary. Date assumed from Hirschel naming his son Theodore in 1828
Hij had een relatie met Maria Pappenheim Mühsam.
