Obituary: David Ranald Wallin May 4, 1929 - May 29, 2008 Dave Wallin, aka the Great D. R., passed away peacefully at home after an intense fight with mesothelioma. Born in Scotsguard, Sask., Dave soon called the Vancouver area home. He leaves behind his true love and wife, Pauline, who was his best friend and companion for nearly 60 years. Together, they created a strong close family bound by love - Gail, Barry (Cathy), Gary (Julie), Blair (Laurie) and Greg (Sandra). Dave's love and support of his seven grandchildren - Stacey, Stuart, Cassidy, Brady, Ashley, Sydney and Kyla was unlimited. Dave thoroughly enjoyed each and every day and always had time to share his quick wit with anyone he met (whether they wanted it or not!). His love, strength and support for his family and friends will remain with us forever... and his fighting bright spirit will never be forgotten! Thank you Dave for sharing your time, heart and many thoughts with each of us! Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of David Wallin to the BC Cancer Foundation, #600 686 W. Broadway, V5Z 1G1. All funds donated will be directed to mesothelioma research. Published in the Vancouver Sun / The Province, (06/04/08
