BERT BOUMA Funeral services here held December 7 at the Christian Reformed church in Hull for Bert Bouma, 89, a resident of Sioux County since 1883, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital December 3. Services were conducted by the Rev. John De Jong and burial was made in the Hope cemetery at Hull. Pallbearers ware Gaynor Te Grotenhuis, John Van Surksum, Bernard Krommendyk, Leonard Bouma, Leonard Krommendyk, and Lester Te Grotenhuis. Bert Bouma was born in Friesland, Netherlands, on February 14 1871. He was the oldest of a family of five brothers and two sisters. The family migrated to the United States in 1883. They landed in Michigan and later migrated to Iowa. They settled in Sioux County where Mr. Bouma was married to Mary Gritters on March 11, 1897. To this union were born eight children: Delia, Mrs, Henry Krommendyk of Ireton: Peter of Rock Valley; Bertha, Mrs, Gerrit Van Surksum of Hull; Hattie, Mrs. Willard To Grotenhuis of Sioux Center; John of Steen, Minnesota; Gertrude, Mrs. John Moss of Sioux Center; Jeanette, Mrs. Art Van Beek of Hull, and Otto of Hull. All survive him. Surviving brothers are: Henry of Bellflower, Calif., Dick of Bellflower, Calif., and Gerben of Bellflower, Calif. One brother, Otto, and two sisters preceded him in death. There are also 35 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren preceded him in death. Bert Bouma was a charter member of the Hull Christian Reformed church.
