Arthur Wrisley Obituary
Beloved Husband, Father, Papa & Friend
Art was born in Lowell, Massachusetts as the only child of Arthur & Elsie Wrisley. He attended Lowell High School and was an avid basketball player, spending many afternoons at the local YMCA. Upon graduating in 1951, Art joined the U.S. Air Force. Art's military service took him to New York, Illinois, Texas, California and finally, Washington State.
Lucky for him, Art's final move to Washington brought him to the love of his life, Marjorie (Trudi) Medema, daughter of Ed & Wilhelmina Medema. Art and Marge were married in 1956 at First Christian Reformed Church of Everett, where they have remained faithful congregation members for the past 65 years.
In 1957, Art began employment at the Snohomish County Public Utility District, where he worked until retirement in 1993. He finished his time at the PUD as a Systems Dispatcher. Art always told his grandchildren that he felt he never worked a day in his life, as he so enjoyed his job.
In his spare time and retirement, Art enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids & grandkids. Art and Marge enjoyed travelling regularly and took annual vacations with their family. Art's most cherished role in life was being a Papa to his grandkids. The Air Force sparked a life-long love of airplanes in Art and he enjoyed observing the daily activity at nearby Paine Field. As a Husky football season-ticket holder, Art loved attending games with Marge & the family in the fall. Surprisingly, Art was a die-hard New York Yankees fan, although he grew up near Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Art loved the Boston Celtics and could be found watching just about any local sporting event on TV with Marge. Art spent many joy-filled hours completing puzzles, tinkering in his garage and yard and working on his truck. He especially enjoyed a good meal with family & friends and considered Marge the best cook in town. Art's family often received safety supplies in their Christmas stockings and love to joke about his preparedness for any possible emergency.
Surrounded by his family, Art passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marge, children, Heidi [Randy] Fretland and Kurt [Kristin] Wrisley, and grandchildren, Emily [Alex] Forsyth, Jenny Fretland and Gavin Wrisley. Art's kind heart, contagious laughter and unique humor will be missed, but we are comforted to know he is now with his Lord and Savior in Heaven.
