Ommelander Geslachten I-III - page 21 states:
The Episcopal peoples of Cologne and Munster fell into the province, haunted the Ommelanden, and besieged the city. In Wirdum they were successfully fought by Claes Jans Knol, self-employed farmer on the monastery farm "Ter Borgh" there. He died shortly thereafter on 3 September 1672. Mr Steenhuis Geertsema, the later owner of "Ter Borgh", possessed a manuscript, a "Mourning complaint" on that death, in which the above fact is thus stated:
Unfortunately, now he is dead; I almost melt with regret.
His four sons can complain with regt
Because her father died in these sad days,
Exceptional because the enemy still knows
The Munsterschuis scum offers us head to head,
Against which he recently fought with Wirdum,
So that he turned the enemy at his post,
Because he had taught his people in order,
