Betty Jean Carter, 59, of Orem, died February 11, 1991 at her home in Orem of a long illness.
She was born as Sarah Turner March 1, 1931, a daughter of John and Fern Adams Turner in Pleasant Grove. Fern died shortly after from complications arising from childbirth. She was adopted and raised and her name was changed by William and Murtle Tittle. She married Douglas Carter in June of 1951. She was a member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed having the missionaries over for dinner when she was living away from Utah. She was raised in Columbia, Carbon County in the coal mining district. She attended Brigham Young University for two years. She loved music and always had a piano. She was self sufficient and took great pride in being independent. She spent three years taking care of her mother during a lengthy bout with heart disease. She had a great love for her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved to talk to and took a great concern for their needs.Survivors include two sons and one daughter, Scott Carter, Orem; Lynn Carter, Provo; Karie Jean Van Blaricom, Hayward, Calif.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Tittle, Salt Lake City; Don Tittle, Orem; four half brothers, Lavard Jackson, Starr Valley, Wyo.; Rodney Jackson, Centerville; Wayne Jackson, Sparks, Nev.; Perniel Jackson, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by two half sisters, Leola Jackson and Alice Jackson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 1991 at 11 a.m. in the Timpanogos Park 5th Ward Chapel, 1000 North Main, Orem. Friends may call Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, and also Saturday from 10:15-10:45 a.m. at the ward chapel Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
